Case Study: Northumberland Church of England Academy - Communication across 10 campuses, and to students from 3 to 18
Northumberland Church of England Academy (NCEA) opened in September 2009, with 10 campuses, over 2,000 students - aged between three and nineteen, and employs approximately 500 staff. Sharing news and publicising success was always going to need more than notices in assembly.
NCEA took the bold step of printing a weekly magazine and it has been an outstanding success. With a print run of 2,200 copies it reaches over 2,000 homes in the academy’s catchment area and is also available on the web. The primary campuses are enthusiastic and regular contributors, the secondary departments contribute their news, and the progress on the new building works is featured regularly.
This case study highlights the content, ethos and purpose of NCEA News, which is an excellent model for any school or academy considering how to communicate with students, staff and the wider community.
