Exam success for Church of England Academies
The Oxford Academy
This academy, which has the Diocese of Oxford as its lead sponsor, opened in September 2008.
63% of students achieved 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C; in 2009 38% of students achieved this.
32% of students achieved 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C including English and Mathematics; in 2009 18% of students achieved this.
The Aylesbury Vale Academy
This academy, which also has the Diocese of Oxford as its lead sponsor, opened in September 2009.
73% of students achieved 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C; in 2009, for the academy's predecessor school, 53% of students achieved this.
The number of students achieving 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C including English and Mathematics has increased by 4% from the 2009 results for the predecessor school.
The academy is also very pleased to have received 50 applications for its sixth form, which only began when the academy opened. It will have grown from no students to 100 students in two years.

Northumberland Church of England Academy
This academy, which has the Diocese of Newcastle as its lead sponsor, opened in September 2009. It is an all age academy with students aged from 3 to 18.
86% of its students achieved 5 or more GCSEs at grades A*-C; in 2009 the results for the academy's predecessor school, Hirst High, were 50%.
31% of students achieved 5 or more GCSEs at grades A*-C including English and Mathematics; the results for the predecessor school in 2009 were 20%.
Meanwhile, in the sixth form, all the students who applied to university achieved the grades they needed and 100% of the students achieved at least one A level.
